The U.S. Border Patrol Tucson Sector seized a modified ultralight aircraft loaded with methamphetamine and fentanyl Thursday night.

Customs and Border Protection said air and Marine operations spotted an aircraft entering the U.S. around 11 p.m.

The aircraft was tracked down to its landing, southeast of Tucson, CBP said.

Agents found the abandoned aircraft with two large plastic storage containers affixed to the fuselage, according to CBP.

CBP said that when the canine units inspected the aircraft, several packages with methamphetamine were found inside the containers.

The packages had a total of 143 pounds of meth and 200 grams of fentanyl, CBP said.

CBP said an AMO helicopter and agents conducted an exhaustive search of the area and didn’t find a pilot.
