BBQ raises money for fallen DPS officer Tyer Edenhofer's family and wounded troopers

People and agencies from all over the state arrived to show support.

PHOENIX — The Fraternal Order of Police hosted a barbecue on Friday to raise money for the family of Trooper Tyler Edenhofer and wounded troopers Dalin Dorris and Sean Rodecap.

“We are barbecuing up some all-beef hot dogs, really good hamburgers, all to support the troopers,” said Sean O'Bryant an Arizona State trooper.

Lines wrapped around the parking lot on 7th Street just north of Osborn Road.

“The amazing response that we’ve had from the community over the past couple of weeks has really floored us, really blowing us away. It’s humbled us. We are very thankful for that. We’re just excited," DPS Sergeant Dave Byrd said.

As the burgers and hot dogs fly off the grill, the money flies into the jar.

“100 percent of the proceeds are going to Trooper Edenhoffer’s family, his fiancée and the other two troopers involved," said Sergeant Byrd.

People and agencies from all over the state arrived to show support.

“We are meeting people that we only see once every few years. We have guys here from La Paz County, from Pima County in Tucson, so we’ve had a lot of people that have traveled to be here," said Sergeant Byrd.

It’s a time to reflect and move forward.

“We look at this as a continuous thing. We have to continue doing the job, that’s what we do. But of course we mourn our loss. When we have events like this we want to show our support for each other so we come out for our brothers out there serving the public, and it helps us deal with that as well," said Chuck Bezio, Peoria police commander.

“Whether they’ve been on for 52 days or they’ve been on for 21 days like my husband, it’s an adjustment but they kinda pick up and keep working, keep going, keep moving," said Lori Stolz.

You still have time to show your support.

“As long as there’s people standing in line we are going to keep the doors open, but right now we are scheduled to be here until 8 p.m," said Sergeant Byrd.

The exact address is 3520 N. 7th St. in Phoenix.
