ANTHEM, Ariz. - For children battling chronic illnesses, the bedroom can be a refuge from painful medical procedures and long hospital stays.
That's why the Arizona nonprofit Room for Joy works to make "dream rooms" for these children.
The latest room makeover was provided to 10-year-old Landon Priest, who is a fan of Star Wars. Landon has an immune deficiency and rare structural anomalies in his heart and digestive system that require constant medical attention.
On Sunday, Landon saw his new room for the first time after it was transformed with a $10,000 makeover.
"It's amazing, I cannot believe what they did in just three days," said Krystal Priest, Landon's mother.
The family was provided a stay-cation while volunteers for the charity converted the room into a Star Wars hideaway.
The family was welcomed back home by visiting Storm Troopers, Darth Vader and a bevy of other Star Wars characters who hosted a party for the family.
