PHOENIX- Amazon is going beyond home delivery to offer shipping to the trunk of a customer's car.

The service is called Amazon Key In-Car Delivery and is available to more than 100,000,000 prime users across 37 cities— including Phoenix.

An app allows customers to buy something and authorize their car to be unlocked remotely when the delivery person is nearby without a key or security code. Amazon says it will notify customers after the package is in the trunk and vehicle is locked back up.

The service does not work with every car, however, it's only available to customers with a Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC from 2015 or later with On-Star. The service can also be used by customers with a Volvo that is equipped with "On-Call."

Perhaps this latest advancement in Amazon shipping will protect more people from porch pirates.
