PHOENIX - A Mesa teenager arrested on 69 counts of indecent exposure after a high school prank is drawing national attention from people who believe the nation's sex offender laws need to be changed.

Hunter Osborn, 19, was arrested after school administrators found that he exposed his penis during a football team picture. that picture then made it into the Red Mountain High School yearbook.

If convicted, Osborn faces up to 34 years in prison. A judge could also make him register as a sex offender.

Attorneys like David Michael Cantor believe that shows the need for reforming the laws.

“I’ve never heard of 69 charges from a single incident of indecent exposure," Cantor said. "It’s outrageous that they’re doing this to this young man.”

The Maricopa County Attorneys Office is ultimately responsible for filing formal charges. As of Tuesday morning, a spokesman said the case had not been forwarded from mes Police.
