DES having problems paying unemployment benefits

The agency said Tuesday "many payments" have been issued to claimants and it is still working to fully resolve the issue.

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Economic Security continues to deal with a problem with unemployment benefits on Tuesday morning.

Some people who were supposed to get payments on Monday reported they have not received them and DES says as of Tuesday morning, they continue to work to fully resolve problems with the system and some people have been issued their payments.

"We continue to work to fully resolve issues within the Pandemic Assistance portal," DES said in a statement to 12 News. "While many payments have been issued to claimants, our teams are still investigating ongoing issues with claim payments and working diligently to resolve them."

Below is the DES statement from Monday evening:

"Unemployment Insurance claimants have reported not receiving payments that were scheduled for today. Additionally, Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claimants report seeing a benefit amount of $0.00 in the portal for this week. Our teams are actively investigating these issues, and are working diligently to resolve them. We have no additional details at this time," a DES spokesperson wrote in an email.
