Bears enjoy Christmas dinner at Southwest Wildlife

The feast included candy canes, Christmas stockings, milk and cookies, presents and a Cornish game hen.

A family of bears sat down to a nice Christmas dinner this week.

No, this didn’t take place in a children’s book. Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center provided the three black bears with candy canes, Christmas stockings, milk and cookies, presents and a Cornish game hen.

Caregivers set up the feast on a festive table in the bears’ enclosure and let them have at it.

The three bears, Griz, Tahoe and Igasho, are about 9 years old and were rescued from Montana and California. Southwest Wildlife said they have been living at the conservation center in north Scottsdale since they were cubs.

The conservation center said the caregivers try to do something like this each year for the bears.

After a feast like that, the bears are probably ready for a little after-dinner hibernation.
