MESA, Ariz. - Six giant inflatable art pieces are taking over the Mesa Arts Center.

The large-scale, illuminated pieces are about two to three stories high. The humanoid "aliens" were created by Australian artist Amanda Parer as part of the "Fantastic Planet" art installation.

The aliens will be up for ten days starting on Friday, as the Mesa Arts Center hosts a free kick-off celebration from 6 to 10 p.m. You can see three of the six sculptures, hear live music, find food trucks and see dance and atmospheric performances.

Other special events are planned for the duration of the aliens' stay in Mesa. You can check out a full event schedule here.
