Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson plays Gregor Clegane (aka The Mountain) on HBO’s "Game of Thrones." His role in recent seasons has been as the formidably silent head of Cersei Lannister’s Queensguard.
The 29-year-old star and competitive weightlifter put on a show over the weekend at the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic. The Icelandic bodybuilder broke his own deadlift record by lifting 1,041 pounds. The record is for lifting without the assistance of a deadlift suit.
According to Sporting News, Björnsson broke the record set last year by 10 pounds. The next day, he also set a world record for throwing a 56-pound weight over a 20-foot bar.
Björnsson shared a video of his accomplishment on his Instagram page, where he posts other intense weightlifting exercise. ‘The Mountain’ made getting the weight up look easier than cracking the skull of Oberyn Martell. He even gave the crowd some love after lifting the bar for a new record.
