Commuters will detour around a few closures in the west Valley, Phoenix and the east Valley in this weekend's traffic update for April 14 - 17.
The first closure of the weekend is near Loop 303 in west Phoenix.
I-10 is closed in both directions between Sarival Avenue and Perryville Road from Friday 9 p.m. to Saturday 3 a.m. This closure is the result of bridge work in the area. Commuters can use McDowell Road for westbound travel. Please make sure to allow extra travel time, be prepared to slow down and use caution when approaching the construction site.
The next closure is near the downtown Phoenix area.
I-17 northbound is closed between 19th Avenue and McDowell Road from Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. for rubberized asphalt resurfacing. In addition to this closure Van Buren Street is closed in both directions at I-17 for bridge work. Plus, the I-17 southbound left lane is closed between McDowell Road and Van Buren Street.
Commuters should consider using the I-10 westbound when trying to get to the downtown Phoenix area. Northbound I-17 traffic should expect delays when detouring on frontage road or 19th Avenue. Consider using Thomas or Camelback roads for local east-west travel near the I-17.
The final closure of the weekend is in the east Valley.
Loop 101 northbound is closed between the US 60 and Loop 202 from Friday 10 p.m. to Saturday 11 a.m. for overhead sign installation. Both US 60 ramps to northbound Loop 101 are closed and both northbound Loop 101 ramps to Loop 202 are also closed. The Loop 101 northbound on-ramps at Elliot and Guadalupe roads are closed during the same times as well.
Northbound Loop 101 traffic can detour on northbound Price frontage road and reconnect with Loop 101 via the northbound on-ramp at Rio Salado Parkway. Drivers should consider using northbound Rural Road, McClintock Drive or Dobson Road as alternate routes to connect with Loop 202
The weather is in the high 80s and low 90s this weekend, so if you are heading to the Maricopa County Fair, start earlier in the day to avoid the warmer conditions.
Happy Easter and have a safe weekend!
