Here's a look at weekend traffic updates for Friday through Sunday. Drivers will only have to detour around a two closures in the Valley this weekend.
The first closure has been taking place every weekend on different parts of Interstate 17.
This weekend, I-17 northbound is closed between 19th Avenue and Thomas Road for permanent lane striping on new rubberized asphalt pavement. That stretch of freeway will be closed Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. Both I-10 ramps to I-17 northbound at the “Stack” interchange are closed.
In addition, the I-17 northbound ramps to I-10 at the Stack are closed too.
Westbound Thomas Road narrowed to one lane at I-17 for new bridge-fence installation. Commuters can consider using I-10 westbound starting near Sky Harbor Airport to SR 51 northbound to Loop 101 westbound.
I-17 northbound traffic exiting at 19th Avenue can detour north on 19th or use northbound Frontage Road.
I-10 eastbound traffic may use 27th Avenue and I-10 westbound traffic may use 19th Avenue as alternate routes, but heavy traffic and delays can be expected.
The final closure of the weekend is the two left lanes of eastbound US 60 between Dobson Road and Mesa Drive for overhead message board improvements. That closure will last from Saturday at 7 p.m. to Sunday 7 a.m.
Please drive with caution and be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone area.
There are a lot of fun things to do this weekend with dad, so enjoy Father’s day and stay cool out there!
