Closures along I-17 and I-10 set for this weekend, Nov. 3-5

Here's what to expect if you're driving around the Phoenix area this weekend!

Here’s what you need to know for this weekend, Nov. 3-6, 2017. Commuters will deal with a handful of closures and lane restrictions throughout the Valley this weekend.

I-10 westbound is closed at 59th Avenue for bridge construction at the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange, from 10 p.m. Friday until Saturday at noon. The I-10 westbound on-ramps are closed at 43rd and 51st avenues as well. I-10 westbound traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at 59th Avenue. Drivers should consider alternate routes, including Loop 101 westbound and southbound in West Valley or surface streets.

The I-17 northbound and southbound off-ramps are closed at Greenway Road for work on the wrong-way vehicle detection system, Saturday 9 p.m. to Sunday 9 a.m. The I-17 northbound off-ramps at Bethany Home Road and Union Hills Drive are also closed.

I-17 northbound and southbound off-ramps at Cactus Road are closed overnight for work on the wrong-way vehicle detection system Sunday 9 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m. The I-17 southbound on-ramp at Utopia Road is also closed. Drivers can use other nearby off-ramps such as Peoria Avenue or Thunderbird Road.

Another ramp closure on the I-17 is in downtown Phoenix. I-17 northbound and southbound frontage roads are closed between Buckeye Road and Grant Street for APS and Cox Communications utility work Saturday 9 p.m. to Sunday 3 p.m. Commuters should consider using alternate routes, including northbound 19th Avenue or southbound 27th Avenue. Be prepared for restrictions at the Buckeye Road bridge over the I-17 as well.

I-17 northbound off-ramp is closed at 19th Avenue for Southwest gas pipeline project, Friday 9 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m. Southbound 19th Avenue is also closed between I-17 interchange and Hilton Avenue (south of I-17). The I-17 southbound off-ramp at Durango Street/19th Avenue will be open with access to Durango Street. Traffic using Eastbound Durango Street/frontage road will not have access to southbound 19th Avenue. I-17 northbound drivers should consider using the 7th Avenue exit.

Finally, there are a couple lane restrictions on the I-17 this weekend. I-17 northbound is narrowed to one lane overnight between Jefferson Street and Indian School Road for overhead sign work, Sunday 10 p.m. until Monday 5 a.m. The other restriction is on the I-17 heading northbound. It is narrowed to two lanes near Dunlap Avenue for installation of the wrong-way vehicle detection system, Friday 9 p.m. to Saturday 9 a.m. The I-17 southbound HOV lane is also closed in same area. In addition to those restrictions, I-17 northbound and southbound on-ramps are closed at Northern Avenue.

Thank you for stopping by and have a fun and safe weekend!
