13-year-old bicyclist killed by suspected DUI teen in Phoenix

A teen driver rolled his car and hit a 13-year-old bicyclist in south Phoenix Friday. The driver did not have a valid license.

PHOENIX - A rollover car driven by a teen struck and killed a 13-year-old boy on a bicycle in south Phoenix Friday, according to police.

The crash happened near 19th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

Police believe the driver of the car, a 17-year-old male, may have been impaired. The teen driver did not have a valid driver's license.

The 13-year-old victim has been identified as Cordell Gooch, police said.

19th Avenue was closed between Lower Buckeye and Broadway roads while police work in the area.

The teen driver stayed at the scene of the crash and police are investigating whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
