Commuters will have to detour around a handful of closures in the Valley this weekend.
The first closure is in the West Valley. Loop 303 southbound ramp to I-10 westbound is closed for work on the overhead-sign structure, Friday 10 p.m.- Saturday 7 a.m. Commuters can exit at Thomas Road and use southbound Cotton Lane, westbound McDowell Road and southbound Citrus Road to access I-10.
This next closure is also in the West Valley, I-10 WB is closed at 59th Avenue for bridge construction, Friday 10 p.m. – Monday 5 a.m. In addition to this closure the I-10 westbound on-ramps at 43rd and 51st avenues are closed. Drivers can exit and re-enter I-10 using the off- and on-ramps at 59th Avenue. However, please consider alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic, such as the Loop 101 westbound and southbound west of I-17.
This third closure has been taking place every weekend, but on different parts of the I-17. This weekend, the I-17 southbound is closed between Dunlap Avenue and Bethany Home Road for final lane striping on new pavement, Friday 10 p.m. - Monday 5 a.m. I-17 southbound on-ramp at Peoria Avenue is also closed.
In addition to this closure the I-17 northbound HOV lane is closed between Glendale and Northern avenues. Also, Northern Avenue is narrowed to one lane in both directions at I-17 for fence installation. Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including SR 51 southbound. Traffic exiting I-17 southbound will detour along frontage road, but expect heavy traffic and delays.
The final closure of the weekend only closes for 15 minutes at a time. The I-17 temporarily closed at times overnight near Anthem Way for APS power line work, Sunday 12:30 a.m. – 6 a.m. Please allow extra travel time during this overnight restriction and be prepared for slow or stopped traffic in area.
It’s another hot weekend and the Diamondbacks are back in town taking on the Phillies, so catch a game and stay cool!
