Arizona Cardinals first-round pick Haason Reddick spent the entire offseason working as a starter at inside linebacker. It was for him good experience, but it is not likely he plays much there at that position his rookie season with Deone Bucannon returning from offseason ankle surgery.
Now he will move into a more specialized role. Nonetheless, coach Bruce Arians still sort of considers him a starter.
“He’ll start in certain packages and I love where he’s at,” Arians told the media Monday after practice. “He’s growing every single day.”
Arians does not only consider the 11 players on the base defense as starters. He considers 13-15 players as starters, depending on the defensive package. Reddick will likely now play in the defensive package in which they got with five linebackers on the field, the role Alex Okafor had last season.
It will be the first time since Deone Bucannon was a rookie that a first-round pick has a significant role on the team as a rookie.
