John Brown's 1st game is a great one

After an offseason with a lot of optimism because of a return to health, but the the preseason changed things. However, in his first preseason appearance, it showed what the Cardinals offense could be.

He didn’t even spend most of the week with the team. He practiced on Monday, finally healthy after a quad injury sidelined him early in training camp, but then left to attend a funeral.

He didn’t even get a ton of playing time, entering the game as the team’s fourth receiver in the rotation. But when he touched the ball, things happened.

He had two receptions and both went for touchdowns.

On the first, the first play of the second quarter, he simply beat his defender with his speed and Carson Palmer had enough protection to get him the ball in stride for a 28-yard touchdown.

The second came on the first play after the defense forced a turnover.

A Falcons defender jumped early, giving quarterback Drew Stanton a free play, and Stanton takes a shot at the end zone. It is on target and Brown hauls it in for another score. This time it is a 21-yard touchdown.

His presence and his speed change things for the Cardinals offense. It opens up the field.

He might be the fourth receiver right now, but if he stays healthy, it will be nearly impossible for him to be anything less than the team’s No. 2 receiver.

FINAL SCORE: Arizona Cardinals 24, Atlanta Falcons 14
