David Johnson to miss at least 'a few weeks' with wrist sprain

The Arizona Cardinals suffered a tough loss in their season opener. Running back David Johnson sprained his wrist and will miss some time.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson, Johnson will miss anywhere from a few weeks to at least half the season.

Johnson suffered the wrist injury in the second half of the Cardinals’ 35-23 loss on Sunday when he fumbled the ball.

He had X-rays on his wrist in Detroit, which came back negative, according to Pro Football Talk. But if the sprain requires surgery, Johnson would probably land on injured reserve just like rookie running back T.J. Logan, who suffered a dislocated wrist in the Hall of Fame Game and had to have surgery as well.

No Johnson is bad news for the Cardinals offense. The Cardinals will have to lean on Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington in the running game in Johnson’s absence.

Johnson rushed for 23 yards on 11 carries against Detroit and caught six passes for 68 yards.
