The Arizona Cardinals have a new quarterbacks coach in Byron Leftwich. He happens to have been drafted the same year as Carson Palmer many years ago. That is something Palmer knew.
Something he didn’t know is he is actually older than Leftwich, and he didn’t want to believe it.
“I got into an argument with somebody,” he said on Wednesday when he met with reporters. “I was like, ‘There’s no way I’m older than him’ and then Google settled the bet.”
He did not mention what losing the bet meant.
Palmer will be taking play calls from Leftwich this weekend when the Cardinals play the Oakland Raiders. Palmer described it as “odd” to think he is taking calls from someone he entered the league with.
“It’s just different,” he said. “It’s something I haven’t experienced.”
While he is older than his position coach, at least he still isn’t the oldest on the team. Kicker Phil Dawson still has that on him at age 42.
