Suns' Alan Williams watches mom become Phoenix PD chief from OKC

Friends, family and community members were in attendance as Jeri Williams became the first female police chief in Phoenix history Friday afternoon.

But one family member couldn't make it.

Williams' son, Alan, had a business trip.

He's a rookie center for the Suns, who had a game in Oklahoma City Friday night.

Alan did what he could, though, watching his mother make history from his phone in a hallway of Chesapeake Energy Arena, the Thunder's home building.

Alan didn't get on the court and the Suns lost in overtime but he can still remember his first NBA road game proudly.
