Gilbert teen gets national anthem chance at Cubs game

Stefanie Didonato from Mesquite High School lives her dream of singing national anthem at Cubs spring training game.

MESA, Ariz. - Stefanie DiDonato loves to sing. The Mesquite High School senior has been performing since she was a little girl.

"My mom heard me in the car singing like in a car seat and thought, 'Wow she's actually pretty good!'" DiDonato said.

DiDonato has performed in countless plays, musicals, and choir concerts. She does it all.

It was decided last year that DiDonato would have the opportunity to sing on the big stage at Sloan Park in front of a sold out crowd.

"I was already getting excited in April and then like when it came," DiDonato said. "The chance to sing, I just wanted to entertain everyone."

DiDonato has big plans to pursue music in the entertainment industry and lucky for her, she has a supportive family encouraging her to chase her dreams.

"I love my mom and would not be where I am without her," DiDonato said.

If the opportunity presented itself again, DiDonato said she would be thrilled to perform again for the Cubs.
