This May, fans in the Valley will have a unique opportunity to watch some of the best athletes with disabilities from around the globe -- up close and personal.
From May 11-14, Arizona Disabled Sports is hosting the 2017 Desert Challenge Games at several locations in the Phoenix area.
Spectators can catch these world-class athletes compete in events such as swimming, archery and track and field. You will see awesome athletic feats like this one last year from Paralympian Lex Gillette.
If you want to support the event this year, here are a few ways you can help:
Be a volunteer
There are a number of volunteer positions available for all days and AZDS is encouraging anyone interested to sign up online.
Come out and watch
Fans can come out and watch the competition at any of the event locations. Tickets are available for purchase at the gate and are $2 per session, or you can purchase a $5 ticket for access to all sessions.
Spread the word
This is a great opportunity to see some incredible performances by some amazing athletes with disabilities. If you can't make the event, consider sharing the Facebook event information with anyone interested in attending.
With more than 250 athletes competing this year, it should be an amazing event.
