Former Desert Ridge HS student makes it to 'The Voice' finals on Snapchat

Sean Rogers, 17, a former student from Desert Ridge High School from Mesa, has made it to the finals for "The Voice" through a Snapchat competition.

He needs your vote by Monday night!

His father eagerly contacted me to talk about his son's success on the infamous Snapchat.

"The Voice" competition on Snapchat is basically like the show on television, but instead, whoever wins the Snapchat competition gets to fly out to Los Angeles to appear on the blind auditions for the next season of the show.

"I was just on Snapchat one day, and I saw an advertisement for the competition saying to send in a video, and I did just that!" Sean wrote in an email.

Sean has a massive passion for music and it has been a part of his life ever since he was in the fourth grade.

"I started in band and choir when I was in 4th grade, and have been taking a music class of some sort every year, whether it was singing, or playing an instrument," Sean wrote.

For his audition piece, he sang "Treat You Better" by Shawn Mendes.

"It got me a spot-on Blake Shelton and Jennifer Hudson’s team," said Sean. "Then, for the battle rounds, I sang “Attention” by Charlie Puth against another artist on the same team."

For the final rounds, he sang "Location," by Khalid.

If you would like to vote for Sean, you can only vote through Snapchat, but the voting ends Monday night!

"If you open the Snapchat app, you can either type in 'The Voice' at the top search bar and view the show there, or you can swipe all the way to the right until you reach the 'Discover' page, and it will show on the front page," said Sean.

Sean aspires to work in the field of music and now he is attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Let's help Sean!
