TAUNTON, Mass. - A 13-year-old boy has been accused of shooting a 12-year-old boy with a rifle, according to authorities.
Lt. Paul Roderick of the Taunton Police Department said bullying may have led to the shooting.
"My understanding is this may be a Facebook type of bullying thing where two or three young men -- juveniles -- went to his house," Roderick said. "He was confronted by them - they were in his yard. The comments that they had made, as I understand it, brought fear to him. He returned to the house, where his mother had a secured weapon in the house. He was able to access that weapon. He went outside and an argument ensued and he fired one shot with what I know to be a long rifle."
Roderick added that the teen unlocked a gun safe before going to a wooded area, where he shot the 12-year-old in the arm. When the bullet exited his arm, it went into his chest.
