ATLANTA -- Just hours after a little girl was found abandoned inside a car in an Atlanta bank parking lot, police have found the child's mother.
According to Atlanta Police, the 18-month-old girl was left in a car on the corner of Lee Street and Oglethorpe Road on the west end of the Bank of America parking lot. The car was a silver Chrysler Pacifica with a Michigan license plate.
At 3:17 p.m., Atlanta police tweeted that the mother, 32-year-old Crystal Hitts of Michigan, had been found.
Ms. Crystal Hitts has been located. Safely and in good health. Thanks everyone for your assistance.— Atlanta Police Dept (@Atlanta_Police) October 22, 2016
Hitt's family told police she was recently diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and left Michigan two days before and was heading for Atlanta. Investigators said Hitts last spoke to an uncle in Mableton, Ga. in Cobb County on Thursday, but no one has heard from her since.
Hitts has since been taken to police headquarters for "interviews and charges".
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call 911.
