A social media effort to find the owner of a runaway giant tortoise turned out to be successful and quite funny.
The Gilbert Police Department posted photos of a giant tortoise found near Velero Street and Caymen Drive Thursday morning hoping to find the owner.
"This tortoise certainly is faster than a hare," Gilbert PD tweeted.

The posts on social media helped. Gilbert PD said its new friend's owner was finally found Friday morning.
"Thank you all for helping us spread the word," the department said.
