Shelter dogs in the Valley need your help to stay cool

Extreme heat is on its way to the Valley.

With some potential record-setting temps in the forecast, it's not just humans trying to figure out ways to stay cool. Pets are doing the same, and Maricopa County Animals Care and Control could use your help.

MCACC is asking for donations to help keep its shelter dogs safe and cool outside.

"Each day we will feature a special request for 'cooling' items," MCACC wrote on Facebook.

Kiddie pools

The first request: Small, kiddie pools. MCACC stressed it needs the "SMALLEST" size.

You can drop off a new kiddie pool at either MCACC's Phoenix or Mesa locations, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cooling bandanas

Their second request on Friday: cooling bandanas available through Amazon. According to MCACC, these specialty items are designed to soak in water and keep dogs cool for hours.

Bonus: the bandanas are shipped directly to the shelter, so delivery is taken care of by someone else.

Even if these two items don't interest you, you can still donate something to help. MCACC has a whole Amazon Wish List full of cool stuff.
