PHOENIX – It is a class that promises to sculpt lean muscles in a short amount of time.
It’s a barre workout, incorporating classic ballet, core, Pilates and yoga strengthening techniques. TenPoint5 has in Central and North Phoenix, Chandler and Tempe.
“It’s okay to shake,” said co-worker Sarah Carlstrom, talking about doing the exercise, “shaking is good! A lot of people think, like you, that it’s like ballet or dancing or doing all sorts of stuff like that. It’s a core workout.”
The exercises focus on specific areas, burning them until you shake.
“It isolates them and pushes them to fatigue,” said Carlstrom. “So if you were shaking in class, which I think you were, that is the muscle working until fatigue.”
Carlstrom keeps the weights light – at two or three pounds – because you do a lot of repetitions with them.
“So many times people come in and they’re like, ‘I’ll use five and tens.’ I’m like, ‘You can try.’ But it never works. It never works,” she said.
You’re going to put in a lot of work, but don’t be intimidated by the class, there’s a reason why you sculpt lean muscles fast.
“I hear all the time, ‘I want to come do it but I want to get in shape first,’” she said. “[Coming here] is getting in shape. You don’t have to get in shape first. Just come. The hardest thing to do is walk in the door.”
The reason the workout is called TenPoint5 is because everyone thinks a perfect score is ten. But what happens if you push yourself even further?
