SAFFORD, Ariz. - According to a Monday release from the Safford Unified School District, all of the district's schools will be closed until Oct. 21 with the intention of resuming classes Monday, Oct. 24.
The closure stems from damage to school buildings caused by flooding after a Saturday storm.
"SUSD wants to assure you that everything is being done to clean up the devastation as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience as we work to ensure our classrooms are safe for students to return; educating our students is our top priority," superintendent Ken VanWinkle wrote in the release.
"Safford Schools would like to thank the community for the many calls we have already received offering support and help. Please support those around you who may have experienced devastation from this storm."
