Police on the hunt for driver who damaged gas lines, fled scene

Crews are cleaning up after an overnight hazmat situation where a car ran into a gas line.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Glendale police are looking for the driver responsible for slamming into gas lines near Grand and Northern avenues and then leaving the scene. Authorities say the crash happened around 2 a.m., Wednesday. 

When police arrived, no one was found inside of the red SUV. The crash closed down roads in the area very early Wednesday but were reopened well before the busiest part of the morning commute.

Southwest Gas worked overnight to clean up the mess.

Authorities tell 12 News they're checking with the owner of the vehicle to find out if it was stolen or not. The investigation continues.
