PHOENIX - On Dec. 2, Action News 9 reported on the scene of an underground gas main explosion at the American Girl store in downtown Phoenix.
Or at least, that's according to this weekend's Saturday Night Live episode.
In the skit, survivors (played by "Lady Bird' actress Saoirse Ronan and SNL members Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner) of a gas main explosion are interviewed on the 5 p.m. newscast.
While the explosion was described as a loud "boom" that caused glass to shatter, all the attention was on one man's obsession with his American Girl Doll.
But our attention was on the inaccurate Phoenix details such as the Canyon Galleria mall. And let's face it, our team 12 reporters would not be comfortable in a fleece vest like SNL's Kenan Thompson's character was wearing. After all, Phoenix experienced the hottest Dec. 2 in the city's history Saturday.
While Action News 9 is not 12 News' competitor, the skit was so funny we wish they were.
Watch the full skit below.
And watch SNL on Saturdays on 12 News.
