Native American group holds rally outside University of Phoenix Stadium

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Arizona Rally Against Native Mascots (AzRally) marched outside the University of Phoenix Stadium on Sunday.

One day before the enforcement of eviction notice issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the AzRally hosted a Not Your Mascot March and a Rally Stand with Standing Rock.

The group met Sunday, Dec. 4 at 12 p.m. near Park and Ride on 7099 North 99th Avenue in Glendale.

AzRally is asking for an immediate removal of the Washington team’s racist name and logo. The term “redskins” is defined in the dictionary as a racial slur.

The group wants to raise wariness about the harmful effects of the derogatory Native mascots and themed nicknames on their people.
