Mesa City Council votes unanimously to hold disciplinary hearing for Ryan Winkle

Tempe police release body cam footage show Ryan Winkle's wife using her husbands political influence to get him out of DUI.

MESA, Ariz. - The Mesa City Council voted Thursday to move forward with a charge of conduct constituting grounds for forfeiture of office or other discipline for Ryan Winkle following the councilman's DUI arrest in May.

The vote was unanimous.

A date has not been set yet for a hearing and a schedule is pending Winkle's criminal proceedings in Tempe.

Councilman Winkle was pulled over in Tempe early on the morning of May 7 and failed field sobriety tests, according to police documents. He declined a breathalyzer test and had blood drawn after his arrest.

Tempe police said Winkle's blood-alcohol content was .220 percent, a number which could merit a charge of super-extreme DUI. The legal limit is .08 percent.

The department previously released body cam footage of the councilman's arrest.
