PHOENIX - A man and his two young daughters are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in a neighborhood near 91st Avenue and Broadway Road.

Officers with the Phoenix Police Department responded to calls of shots fired at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses led them to the house, and when officers entered, they found a man, 36, and two young girls, ages 4 and 5.

The man and the 5-year-old girl were dead on scene. The 4-year-old girl was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Sgt. Mercedes Fortune with Phoenix PD said it appears the man took the lives of his daughters before taking his own.

Phoenix police identified the shooter as Jerad Joseph Arismendez.

The children's mother, identified as Carmen, had also called police earlier Sunday, asking for a welfare check on the children. She does not live there and was not present at the time of the shootings.

Court records show she had filed an order of protection early this summer against Arismendez.

Two other people who live in the house and were there during the incident were questioned by police.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family.
