Man killed in crash on 43rd Avenue

Two crashes results in 3 deaths, 16 patients.

PHOENIX - A 21-year-old man has died after a two-vehicle collision at 43rd and Montebello avenues Sunday, according to police.

Five people were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two of them are children. 

The scene is not far from another crash at 43rd and West Maryland avenues, where a pedestrian was killed and at least 12 people were injured Sunday afternoon.

“I can’t tell you the last time that I can recall it happening," said Sgt. Jonathan Howard of the Phoenix Police Dept. "It’s creating some confusion for us as these people are being taken to the hospital and the hospital is giving us updates."
