PHOENIX - Mathew Sterling appeared in court Tuesday morning after bringing loaded guns into Comicon with the intent to kill.
Sterling had an arraignment hearing at Maricopa Superior Court at 8:30 a.m where he pleaded not guilty.
According to court documents, Sterling thought he was a real-life version of The Punisher, a famed Marvel Comics vigilante.
He also stated that he would kill "bad police officers" to protect himself or his friends.
Sterling told police he wanted to kill the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers actor Jason David Frank, one of the special guest speakers at this year's Comicon.
When police arrested him, Sterling had three handguns, a shotgun, a combat knife, pepper spray and throwing stars.
