Looking for a place to cool off? Find a splash pad in your area

Splash pads offer kids a way to cool down and have fun all year round for free.

With high temperatures forecasted to be near 110 in the Valley this week, you're family may be looking for ways to cool down. Splash pads are always a good, fun option and -- bonus -- they’re free.

The Arizona summer is here and kids always enjoy being around the water, so here's a list of some splash pads around the Valley:


Altadena Park

Besides enjoying the park common areas such as playground, ramada, picnic area and grills, the kids will have fun playing in the water.

The splash pad area is oepn Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is closed on Sundays. It will be open until Oct. 1.

If you don’t feel like driving and have quick access to the Metro light rail, this is a good option.

The CityScape splash pad is in the heart of downtown on 1 E. Washington Street.

Edison Park

Besides the splash pad with spray fountains and jets, the kids can enjoy the playground area, lighted basketball court and softball field. The park also has a picnic area and ramada.

You can find the Edison Park at 901 N. 19th (just north of Van Buren), the splash pad hours are 8 a.m. to 8 pm. And the area will be open until Oct. 1.

Outlets at Anthem

When you’re done shopping, you can stop by the splash pad area to cool down a little and have fun.

Visit Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays 10a-7p.

Pecos Park

You’ll not only find fun activities for the entire family, but also for four-legged family members. Pecos Park has a 1.5 acre off-leash activity area for dogs. You’ll also find basketball and tennis courts, a swimming pool and a community area.

The splash pad operates from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.until Oct. 1.

Fountain Park at Westgate Entertainment District

The kids will have a blast trying to catch the shots of water popping up and at night, they’ll enjoy the colored water coming from the LED lights.

The Fountain Park opens from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and closes the first Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in July and August for water testing. It’s right across AMC Theatre by Loop 101 and Glendale Avenue in Glendale.

Glendale Heroes Regional Park

The location on 8100 W. Bethany Home Road is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until mid-August. From mid-august and the entire month of September, they’ll only open the weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friendship Park

It's at 12325 W. McDowell Road and it’s open daily thru September from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Goodyear Community Park

This poark is at 3151 N. Litchfield Road is open from 9a.m -  8 p.m. until Oct. 16.

Rio Vista Community Park

In addition to a splash pad, this park also has a skate area, lake and more. It's located at 8866-A W. Thunderbird Road in Peoria.

Desert Ridge Marketplace

The splash pad near AMC Theatre is located by Loop 101 and Tatum Boulevard. It’s open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Florence Ely Nelson Desert Park

This park also has a playground. It’s located at 8950 E. Pinnacle Peak Road in Scottsdale.

Scottsdale Quarter

At Scottsdale Road and Greenway near Hayden loop. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 9 pm. Monday-Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Chuparosa Park

On 2400 S. Dobson Road in Chandler, it's open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through August. In September and October, it will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

San Tan Village

Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. it’s located at 2218 E. Williams Field Road in Gilbert.

This park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. It’s located at 10100 E Ray Road in Mesa.

Esquer Park

In addition to the splash pad, this has a skate park and horseshoe area. It’s open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Oct. 31. It’s located at 2407 E. McArthur Drive in Tempe.

The splash pad is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. The marketplace is located near Loop 202 and McClintock Drive in Tempe.
