Pit bull adoptions are free this Saturday at both Maricopa County Animal Care and Control centers.

Are you searching for a furever friend?

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is holding a special adoption event Saturday to celebrate "St. Pittie's Day."

The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., will offer no cost adoptions on all cats and kittens, and on adult dogs that weigh more than 20 pounds.

Adoption fees are $20 for small dogs and $100 for puppies (under 6 months of age).

Shelter locations:

MC Animal Care West
2500 S. 27th Ave.
Phoenix, AZ

MC Animal Care East
2630 W. Rio Salado Pkwy
Mesa, AZ 8

MCACC says their shelters are already at capacity, with more than 600 pets looking for homes, and the busiest months of the year are still ahead.

By adopting, "not only are you saving a life, you are also making room for another dog or cat to take the place of the one you've adopted," MCACC said in a release.

If you can't make it this weekend, MCACC is offering other specials throughout the month of March.

March adoption rates:

• Puppies (under six months): $100

• Dogs (over six months): $20

• Kittens (under six months): $20

• Cats (over six months): $0

Animals adopted from MCACC are spayed/neutered and vaccinated. And dogs over 3 months old will be licensed with the county.
