Judge issues warrant for custody of Mesa baby missing with mother

Madeline Jones disappeared with her infant son last week but Maricopa judge files warrants on child behalf.

MESA, Ariz. - A young mother and her baby boy have been missing since Thursday, and Monday saw a surprising development in their case.

A Maricopa County judge issued a warrant for authorities to take custody of William Jones-Gouchenour if they find him and his mother, 19-year-old Madeline Frieda Jones.

Jacob Gouchenour, the boy's father, filed an emergency motion for order to return child in Maricopa County Superior Court Monday morning.

Just weeks ago, Jacob was awarded joint custody of William and was set to receive court-ordered parenting time beginning June 15.

Madeline has blond hair, blue eyes, is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 145 pounds. She was wearing a white shirt and a blue skirt.

William has blue eyes, blond hair and weighs about 17 pounds.

Police say Madeline was having custodial issues regarding her son.

She said she was going to see her attorney and then some friends, but didn’t go to see the attorney and not been seen since then.

Her family is very concerned for their welfare.
