Hiker falls 100 feet down South Mountain

PHOENIX- A hiker was rescued and transported to a local hospital Sunday morning after he lost his footing and slipped approximately 100-150 feet before he could stop himself, authorities said.

Response crews from Phoenix, Tempe and Chandler fire departments responded to the call and worked together to rescue the hiker. Authorities described the hiker as an adult man.

According to the response crews, the hiker was flown off the mountain due to his location and the time it would have taken to walk to him.

No information was released regarding the hiker's condition.
