Family of car wash shooting victim pleads for witnesses

The family of a Glendale man, who was shot to death, asked the public for assistance in identifying the person who killed their father on July 7.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The family of a man shot to death at a Glendale car wash July 7 is asking for help in finding the killer.

Robert Jacobson, 57, was washing his car at 59th Avenue and Missouri when he was shot. It was several hours before anyone found his body.

Police have no suspects in custody and no motive.

"He was a grandfather of three and I don't know how to tell my kids," his son Jason Haley said.

Jacobson was a single father of six who, his children say, raised them all by himself in Glendale. Growing up in a rough neighborhood, they said he made sure they all made it through school and considered them his greatest success.

"This was an uncalled for, violent attack on somebody who didn't deserve it," Haley said. "He was a good man."

Glendale police will be back in the area Friday night looking for witnesses. If you know anything about the shooting, call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377).
