DPS arrested 2 suspects who fired shots at troopers from speeding car, fled on foot

The Department of Public Safety arrested two suspects who abandoned their car and fled on foot after firing shots at troopers Sunday morning in north Phoenix.

PHOENIX - The Department of Public Safety arrested two suspects who abandoned their car and fled on foot after firing shots at troopers Sunday morning in north Phoenix.

Around 8 a.m., troopers attempted to pull over a vehicle that was speeding on Interstate 17 near milepost 244, DPS said.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of New Mexico, according to DPS.

The occupants of the vehicle then fired shots at the DPS car and fled into a parking lot near I-17 and Carefree Highway. There, the suspects continued to flee on foot.

A man and woman were later arrested after being found inside a bagel shop, DPS said. The suspects indentification was not immediately released.

No troopers were injured, DPS said.
