Cycling group to honor Gilbert mom of 4 with special ride

The Jetset racing team is changing its regular Friday morning route to honor Jenna Taylor, who was hit by a truck while cycling Thursday morning.

GILBERT, Ariz. - After the tragic death of an East Valley mother of 4, friends are organizing a special way to remember her.

Jenna Taylor was an avid cyclist out on her morning ride Wednesday when a truck slammed into her, taking the Gilbert woman’s life.

Her friends and family describe her as "hysterically funny" with a "selfless, giving spirit."

People are coming together to show support to for the Taylor family, from flowers at the intersection of Val Vista Drive and Ray Road, to a special bike ride.

“I had some extra flowers and I just left them, because I’m really sad about what happened," said Debra Jo Borden, who goes to the same church as Jenna's family. "I just cannot think of a more tragic event happening to nicer people.”

"Jenna was always kind and she was nice to everyone whether she knew them or not, she was a great mom. We loved her," said Borden.

She’s also friends with the woman Jenna was bike riding with when a commercial truck hit Jenna.

“My heart is broken for her," she said.

"It just hits close to home," said Chris Anderson, who knew Jenna and is friends with her husband through the Jetset Racing team. “When the wife of one of your friends passes away doing something that we love, it just … I think everybody takes it a little bit personally."

The cycling group is going to honor Jenna by changing up its regular Friday morning bike route, to a special ride in Jenna’s memory.

“We wanted to do something just a little bit different for (her husband) Cam and for his kids and so we decided just to change the route," said Anderson. "Go out toward his place and then end up at the crash site and just have a moment of silence there just to show Cam and his kids how much we support them and how much the whole community supports them.”

The ride starts at 5:30 a.m. Friday morning.

You can also help Jenna's family with memorial costs by donating through the family's GoFundMe page.
