Crews fight first-alarm junkyard fire in southwest Phoenix

One firefighter taken to hospital from heat exhaustion while battling a junkyard fire near 33rd Ave. and Broadway in Phoenix.

Firefighters in Phoenix are fighting a first alarm fire at a junkyard near 32nd Avenue and Broadway Road.

According to a PFD spokesman, a large pile of debris is ablaze.

One of the firefighters who responded to the call was evaluated on scene for heat exhaustion, according to the Phoenix fire spokesman.

Crews worked to control the fire with defensive water streams.
