Chandler FD: 8-year-old boy dies in drowning

Chandler fire officials said the boy was pulled from the pool and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful

An 8-year-old boy pulled from a pool Friday evening has died, according to Chandler fire officials.

According to Chandler FD, the boy was not breathing when he was taken out of the pool. Firefighters began CPR and took the boy to a hospital from the home near Chandler Heights and Gilbert roads.

Fire and hospital workers were not able to resuscitate the boy, Chandler FD officials said.

Chandler police said the boy was the nephew of a caregiver who brought the boy and his brother with her as she worked at the home.

Police said the boy did not know how to swim.

Investigators are still working to determine what led to the boy falling into the pool.
