Bicyclist dies from heart attack after collapsing on South Mountain

PHOENIX-  A bicyclist has died after collapsing on South Mountain Saturday morning, Phoenix fire officials said. 

Rescue teams with the Phoenix and Tempe fire departments responded to a call when a 54-year-old man reported having chest pain on the Desert Classic Trail. 

The bicyclist had collapsed and medics performed CPR, Phoenix fire said. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

According to fire officials, medics were able to regain a pulse but said the man suffered another heart attack at the emergency room and died.
