3 dead after apparent street-racing crash on Central Ave

Phoenix police say it appear two vehicle were racing when a car crashed.

PHOENIX - The third man critically injured in a possible street-racing crash that closed Central Ave at Butler Drive Monday morning has died, police say.

According to police, officers responded to a crash at 85000 N. Central Avenue where a witness reported the two vehicles were racing southbound on Central.

The drivers lost control. One vehicle crashed into a tree on the west side of the roadway. The vehicle burst into flames. Both occupants, 17-year-old Jesus Fabian Aguilar and 22-year-old Jessie Alberto Worth were ejected and died.

The second vehicle crashed into a tree on the east side of the roadway, partially ejecting the driver, 18-year-old Marcos Hemberto Agmayo-Aguilar. He was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition, but later died from his injuries.

Police say speed and lack of seat belts appear to be “major factors" in the deadly collision.
