2 dead in homicide near 31st Ave. and Pierce St.

Phoenix police are still looking for suspects involved.

PHOENIX - Police shut down the area of 31st Avenue and Pierce Street for a double homicide investigation early Monday.

According to police, officers responded to a call from the family of a house on the corner of 31st Avenue and Pierce Street. The homeowners reported a car had collided into the half wall surrounding their front yard.

Police say two men, aged 20 to 30, were in the car. They had been shot multiple times and were pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to revive them.

The car had bullet holes in one side and a rifle was found in the car with the victims.

The family in the house was not hurt and, police say, are not believed to be part of the incident.

According to a police spokesperson, investigators believe the shooting happened at a location nearby, and not where the car ended up.

Suspects, motives, or the circumstances that led up to this incident are not known at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to call Phoenix police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-948-6377).
