18-year-old passenger killed after car collides with pole in Phoenix crash

An 18-year-old killed after a car collided into pole near 67th Avenue and Jomax Road.

PHOENIX -  One person is dead an another was taken to a hospital after a single-vehicle crash in north Phoenix early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle lost control near Jomax Road while traveling northbound on 67th Avenue. The car collided with a utility pole.

The 18-year-old female passenger in the car was ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to a hospital with "serious injuries," police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
