Warm weather delays Arizona Snowbowl opening again

A new ski lift and restaurant are just a few of the added features you can expect at the Arizona Snowbowl.

Despite it being one of the first ski resorts to start making snow this year, skiers and snowboards still won’t be able to hit the slopes at Arizona Snowbowl.

Snowbowl announced Wednesday that warm temperatures have delayed its opening. The opening had already been pushed back once to Friday but, according to a release, officials have not been able to make enough snow.

According to the National Weather Service, low temperatures in Flagstaff have been the warmest on record and there is no end in sight for the warmer weather.

“Our snow guns have been running at every available opportunity,” J.R. Murray, general manager at Arizona Snowbowl, said in a release. “Snowbowl’s opening date will be announced once we have made sufficient snow to provide the best possible ski product.

Snowbowl officials say they hope to be open the week of Thanksgiving, according to a release.
