University of Arizona graduate beaten to death in Greece

22-year-old Bakari Henderson, a University of Arizona graduate, was beaten to death by 10 people in Greece Friday morning according to an Athens based newspaper.

A 22-year-old University of Arizona graduate was killed in Greece on Friday morning. 

Bakari Henderson was allegedly beaten to death by 10 people at a bar on the island of Zakynthos, according to an Athens-based newspaper

Sources tell News 4 Tucson that Henderson was in the town of Laganas on a graduation trip with his Phi Gamma Delta fraternity brothers when the incident occurred.

Four men were arrested for the beating including a security guard and a bar employee, according to the newspaper. 

Henderson was taken to a hospital with severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the newspaper.

The United States State Department confirmed his death in a statement which said: 

                 “We are in communication with authorities and providing consular assistance to the deceased citizen’s family. We offer our sincerest condolences to family and friends, and out of respect for the family during this difficult time, we have no further comment.”

Henderson graduated in May with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. He was originally from Austin, Texas, according to Austin-based NBC station KXAN.
